Samantha and Zach | Gordonsville, VA
When we first got the news that Hurricane Florence was headed to the east coast, there was a very good chance that Virginia would be directly in its path. As Samantha and Zach’s wedding day approached, we had all of our fingers and toes crossed that the rain would clear for their outdoor, pond side ceremony.
On the day of the wedding, things did not look good. It was just about pouring when I arrived and continued to be misty/ rain steadily as I did detail and prep shots of the bride and groom. Zach was a weather man master. He had all the weather apps and was carefully monitoring the forecast to see if we would have to go with the under cover rain plan. This would mean no pond side view, but, more importantly, it would mean leaving behind the beautiful arch that Zach had made for Samantha. Looking at all the apps, Zach said he wanted to wait until the last minute because he believed there would be a gap in the rain right in time for the ceremony. I have to say, I had my doubts, but sure enough, fifteen minutes before the ceremony began, the rain cleared and the sun even came out!
Their intimate ceremony was followed by an indoor reception prepared by the bride and groom’s family. There was a catered Italian meal, beautifully decorated cake, and the cutest “guest book” I’ve ever seen. Instead of a guest book, guests filled out suggestions for the bride and groom’s bucket list. It was the first time I ever saw anything like that at a wedding and wish I had thought about it for my own! So creative.
All in all, they say rain on your wedding day is lucky, but I don’t think this couple need any luck. The love they have for each other was so evident and genuine and I’m so excited for them as they start their next adventure as husband and wife! Congratulations Sam and Zach! Thank you for allowing me to capture your special day.
Thank you to the amazing vendors who made this day possible!
